That’s just part of Emma-Jane’s magic. We could not be more proud to have Emma-Jane in our Teacher Training program, and are already so inspired by her story. We cannot wait to see what she conquers next!

Hi, Emma! Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hey there! I’m Emma-Jane Trudgett, a Wiradjuri woman proudly calling Dubbo, NSW, home. By day, I’m the Head of Junior School at Fierce Performing Arts—my dream job and second home. Preschool dance is my other passion, and I’m currently living that dream too. While I’ve been a primary school teacher for my entire adult life, my heart beats strongest in the realm of movement. Dance has been my constant companion throughout my life, and after shedding 50kg, I’ve dived headfirst into the world of women’s fitness. My mission? To use dance and fitness to light a fire under other women, pushing them to embrace their journeys and conquer their goals. I have two crazy children Frankie and Dusty who keep me on my toes and love dance and movement too.

What is it that attracted you to Barre Body?

Barre Body is more than just a fitness haven for me; it’s a soul connection. I have been teaching barre for four incredible years transformed not only my body but my entire lifestyle. What drew me to Barre Body was its unwavering inclusivity and sheer professionalism. I found them on Instagram along my teaching journey and the energy they radiate through social media is beautiful.

Why does the scholarship mean so much to you?

This scholarship is my golden ticket, a chance to grow and share my unique journey. It’s not just about refining my skills; it’s about pouring my heart, story, and infectious enthusiasm into empowering other women. This opportunity means the world to me, as it opens doors to impact lives and create ripples of positive change.

Can you tell us what movement means to you?

Movement isn’t just a part of my life; it’s my heartbeat. It’s deeply ingrained in my Wiradjuri roots, an intrinsic part of who I am. From the early days of expressing myself through dance, it became my sanctuary. As life unfolded, movement evolved into my mental escape, my sacred “me time.” Now, it’s my journey towards the best version of myself, setting an example for my kids, and embracing health and self-expression daily.

What are you most excited to get out of the training?

Brimming with excitement, I look forward to unlocking a new skill set. At 120kg, anxiety and low confidence were my shadows. Becoming Pilates-trained isn’t just about personal growth; it’s about offering a haven where women can shed their inhibitions, move freely, and soak in positivity. It’s about creating a space where every woman feels seen, valued, and empowered.

What impact do you hope that your story has on your community?

My dream is to be the spark that lights up other women’s dreams. Being a Pilates teacher once felt like an impossible feat, reserved for a certain “look.” I’m here to shatter that illusion, shouting from the rooftops that health and fitness are about more than appearances. I want to carve out a community where every woman feels confident, happy, and ready to embark on her unique journey towards becoming her unapologetically best self.
